Katydid

See that little spot on its foreleg near the joint?
That’s its ear.

Wonderful capture - it's always amazing to realise that not all organisms are organised in the same way. I believe some creatures smell through their feet?

When I was a kid, I used to hear katydids singing katydid, katydidn't. I'd forgotten all about that!

If my ear was on my elbow I would be always knocking it. Wonderful photo. I think we call these bush crickets here, but that would be no use for the difficult letter K, LOL.

This is an amazing photo! I've never seen a katydid in such great detail, nor did I know their ears were on their legs. And noses on their sides?? The things one learns in Blogland--thanks for sharing!
