Back roads

Today I went to Berkeley Springs which is about an hour and half drive from my home. I always like to take the back roads because they are really beautiful and make the trip even better. I remember growing up when a Sunday drive was what everyone did. Gas was cheap or at least we thought so at the time. So on the way home I decided to stop along the road to take photos to share what I saw. Enjoy.

You can put on John Denver's song about West Virginia called "Country Road", it will certainly be appropriate. So here we go..."country roads take me home..."

Or maybe a Turkey Trot might be a better song to play.

This is where I park to see the Spotted Salamanders. Up on Sleepy Creek Mountain.

It can get a little confusing on these back roads.

Switch back.

Along Back Creek Valley Road.

Quick stop at the marsh.

Red Bud trees were in full bloom.

Close up.

Last farm before Inwood.

Last stop before home.

That was a wonderful ride! The switchback is the type where you can stick your arm out the window and clean off the tail lights! Well, that's what I was told ... way back when. :)
